General Motors have pledged to grow their U.S. factories, including investing in Michigan Bay City and Flint facilities. $579 million will be invested in Flint Engine Operations, with a separate $216 million being spent to upgrade the Bay City engine plant.

The V-8 engine is the focus for the investments, re-launched 20 years since Flint paused on its manufacturing of the engine. Flint currently makes the 1.5-liter turbo engine (Chevrolet Malibu sedan) and the 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine (Chevrolet Silverado).

As for good jobs, 2,400 union and salary jobs will be retained. GM employs 709 people at Flint Engine Operations and 425 people at the Bay City plant.
