We were fortunate to occupy a segment in the middle of the podcast to outline our focus on helping UK farms meet their workforce needs. There is a shortage of 80,000+ workers - a so-called “land army” - with a significant proportion of these workers needed in fruit picking from June to September. With COVID-19 creating complications for the workforce, problems that pre-dated Brexit have been exacerbated.

Tendo wants to help the sector through three main operations:

  1. Formalise roles: Provide prospective hires with a clear idea of what the job entails and what skills they can learn.
  2. Streamline training: Send training to new hires before arrival on the farm to confirm commitment. Mark-off completed modules to ensure compliance.
  3. Incentivise loyalty: Provide weekly updates to a worker’s skills record to incentivise reliability.
