Launched in July 2022, Rural Business Focus is a new podcast from Benjamin Eagle to provide case studies and how-to knowledge for people running businesses in countryside settings. The podcast launches on the heels of another audio trove - Meet the Farmers where Eagle has recorded 160 episodes covering the practical side to arable and mixed farming in the UK.

Early episodes cover a range of topics that reach beyond the framing world to include marketing, accountancy, business planning and mental health.

Opening the series was former ITV journalist turned agri-media consultant Emily Davies opens the recording by sharing perspective on how to orientate Facebook and Instagram strategy. Examples from youth-orientated channel LAD Bible, as well as the work from Direct-to-Consumer toilet roller disruptor, Who Gives a Crap and That Welsh Farmer. Louis Theroux’s Jiggle Jiggle sensation isn’t neglected either as an example of how to find a completely new audience (in his case, LT is now known by Gen Z).

Another conversation involves PR consultant Rhea Freeman, farmer Sam Steggles of Fielding Cottage in Norfolk and rural business adviser Simon Haley, also Director of Cultivate Conference. Steggles covers the pressing topic of Staffing by emphasising the new priority that rural businesses need to place on attracting the next generation of employees.
