Tendo’s campaign to offer free online training for baristas affected by COVID-19 work restrictions has been taken up in South Africa’s Coffee Magazine.
Home of the Bean, a coffee shop in Johannesburg, is one employer that has endorsed the training, sharing it with their team of four baristas. Couple Leroy Kgopa and Itumeleng Manamela founded Home of the Bean to raise standards in coffee, setting out on this mission from an idyllic, leafy setting shared by another anchor employer Bridge Books, a specialist in African literature. Their location in Maboneng plays a role in the central district’s gradual development over the past 10 years.
