Developed by the NRF Foundation and delivered by Penn Foster, this 10-module, online course allows job seekers and entry-level retail associates to develop basic customer service skills, math skills to conduct sales transactions, and an understanding of the retail industry, its impact on the economy, and the diverse jobs available.

This retail course is divided into four parts. Part one provides an overview to the sector and what you can expect from the course. Part Two looks at the two key pillars of sales associate roles - customer service and the ability to sell. Part three takes a more operational look at how inventory is managed and what can be done to prevent loss through theft. Finally, a fourth section provides guidance on how to apply for jobs and present yourself for progressive roles in the industry. View full contents here and an example lesson here.
