Vertical hydroponic farm Planted Detroit are one of the city's most exciting urban farming operations, harnessing next generation technology to grow local, fresh produce. Located in the Islandview neighborhood on the East Side, Planted are updating the city's relationship with healthy food and building new capacity at the same time. They're hiring a Sanitation Technician to make sure high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the operation.

Skills you'll develop

  • Cleaning Surfaces: Clean surfaces, floors, equipment daily.
  • Intermediate Strength: Ability to manually lift and move up to 50lbs.
  • Food Safety: Awareness of different artificial and natural products and the importance of separation in storage and during cooking.
  • Record Keeping: Understand the steps and timing for keeping accurate, organised records to log processes and share progress updates with other team members.
  • Inventory Management: An ongoing process to ensure the accuracy (count) of stock immediately available on site, and what other inventory is in delivery or at earlier points in the supply chain.
  • Motorized Floor Scrubbing: Driving motorised cleaning equipment while applying fluids and different brush types to clean surfaces thoroughly.
