This free online course has been designed by The Open University Business School and Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to give those entering management positions a guide on what to expect and how to handle new roles. This course will be useful if you’ve been working in a junior role for a while and want to get a sense of what you’ll need to do in a more senior position.

Management and Leadership: Growing as a Manager” is divided into four parts delivered across a sequence of weeks. Week 1 covers personal development planning. Week 2 looks at different management styles and theories, highlighting the role of trust in the workplace. Week 3 covers decision making and the importance that data has for informing approaches. Week 4 attends to the dynamics that stakeholders introduce - how to identify wants, needs and fulfil these.
