JLR has been working with the Multiverse to deliver a data upskilling apprenticeship programme to more than 600 employees. Launched in August 2022 as part of JLR Learning Academy, the programme has helped to increase weekly production by 600 vehicles (market value £50M).

Over 15 months, course curriculum trains frontline workers to identify production inefficiencies, with hard skills training including:

  • Data Modelling
  • Data Analysis
  • Python
  • Machine Learning

The course carves a path to JLR's electrified future which will encompass more data within production. The car manufacturer aims to become carbon net zero across our supply chain, products, and operations by 2039.

According to Multiverse, the shortage of data skills is estimated to cost UK businesses £2 billion a year, with 100,000 data positions unfilled (2021 source: The European Data Market Monitoring Tool). JLR and Multiverse’s Data Fellowship is part of JLR’s Future Skills programme which aims to deliver training to 29,000 employees.
